UK Visitor Visa Documents Required from India
The right document set depends on the purpose of travel and the applicant’s own circumstances. A salaried employee, business owner, retired traveller and family-hosted visitor should not all receive the same checklist.
Passport & identity
A valid passport or travel document is required. Previous passports or travel history may also be relevant depending on the applicant.
Employment, business, study or retirement
Use evidence that explains what the applicant does in India and the circumstances they will return to after the visit.
Financial evidence
Bank statements, earnings or other relevant financial records should help explain how the visit and return or onward journey will be funded.
Travel purpose
The proposed dates and planned activities should be clear. For business travel, meeting, conference or invitation documents may be relevant.
Host or sponsor evidence
If somebody in the UK is providing accommodation or financial support, the relationship and the nature of that support should be explained.
Translations & supporting records
Documents that are not in English or Welsh should be accompanied by a full translation that meets the current official requirements, including translator details and confirmation of accuracy.
More documents do not automatically improve an application.
Choose evidence because it explains the applicant’s circumstances or the purpose of travel. Large, repetitive files can make the important information harder to follow.
