A UK host can support the visit, but the applicant still needs their own documents.
Visiting family or friends is a permitted Standard Visitor purpose. Where a host is involved, their information can help explain the relationship, accommodation and financial support, but the application should still show the applicant’s own circumstances and intention to make a temporary visit.
If the host is paying for part or all of the trip, current official guidance says the application should make clear what support is being provided, how it will be provided, the relationship between the applicant and sponsor, and whether the sponsor has sufficient funds.
Family visit documents we can help you review
Passport and applicant identity information
Host or invitation evidence where relevant
Relationship evidence appropriate to the visit
Applicant finances and trip funding
Employment, business, study or retirement evidence
Proposed dates and accommodation arrangements
Tell us who you plan to visit, your relationship, proposed duration and who will pay for the trip. That gives us a better starting point than asking for every possible host document.
Applicant and host documents should support each other
If a sponsor says they will provide accommodation or pay expenses, the applicant’s form and supporting evidence should describe the same arrangement. Unexplained differences in dates, funding or relationship details can make the application harder to assess.
